Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nuclear Materials Scientist to join our team in the Energy and Utilities industry. As a Nuclear Materials Scientist, you will be responsible for conducting research, analyzing data, and developing innovative solutions related to nuclear materials and their applications. This role requires a strong background in nuclear science, materials science, and an in-depth understanding of nuclear energy systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and analysis on nuclear materials to evaluate their properties, behavior, and performance within nuclear energy systems.
- Design and perform experiments to investigate the effects of different materials on nuclear reactions, radiation resistance, and material degradation.
- Develop and implement testing procedures to assess the quality and suitability of nuclear materials for various applications.

- Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate research findings and propose solutions to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines while conducting experiments and handling nuclear materials.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior scientists and engineers within the organization.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- A Ph.D. in nuclear engineering, materials science, or a closely related field.
- Proven experience in conducting nuclear materials research and analysis, preferably within the nuclear energy sector.
- Strong knowledge of nuclear energy systems, including reactors, fuel cycles, and waste management.
- Proficiency in designing and executing experiments, as well as analyzing and interpreting complex scientific data.
- Solid understanding of materials characterization techniques, such as microscopy, spectroscopy, and mechanical testing.
- Familiarity with radiation effects on materials, radiation damage mechanisms, and material degradation processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to apply scientific principles to develop practical solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of relevant safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance processes within the nuclear industry.
